Shape and Form in Painting the Portrait: Workshop with Jeanne Tangney

 

Even the most accomplished artist can find painting a portrait from life overwhelming. This workshop will incorporate a simplified but solid approach to portraiture by combining what we see with what we know.

While we will cover proportion and common facial elements, our primary focus will be on rendering accurate abstract shapes and understanding the effects of light on the planes of the face in order to paint a portrait that is both convincing and compelling.
