Michael writes:

I have been a cartoonist from the age of six and have had comic strips published in numerous publications. In 2020, during the Pandemic, I turned to doing fine art, beginning with graphite pencil drawings of landscapes, and moving on to charcoal drawings and then, in 2023, soft pastels. Soft pastels provide a vibrancy and luminosity that I believe cannot be matched by any other medium.

Most of my paintings are of scenes in the Boston and New England areas and elsewhere on the East Coast. My goal is to inspire viewers to see the world though fresh eyes, and to feel a connection with nature and our environment that transcends the artificial boundaries that separate us.

  • Leslie Carone, "Haystack Rock", Cannon Beach, Oregon. Painted this for my sister who lives on Oregon Coast and frequently hikes along this magnificent shoreline.

  • Mary Beth Morrison, "Palmy Days", Gulf side of Florida. Spent winter months on Gulf side of Florida, noticed trees everywhere we went. I played with different pastels & studies of the different palms
