BF Reed is an award-winning artist whose career has been marked by significant achievements in the pastel medium. She began her career as a medical illustrator at Temple University’s Medical School in 1977 before transitioning to art education. From 1979 to 1987, she taught art for the Department of Defense, later working as an illustrator for the Department of Defense from 1988 to 1989. She then spent several years as a freelance graphic designer and private commission artist (1990–1995) before returning to teaching as a public-school art educator in North Carolina from 1995 to 2007. Since then, she has dedicated herself fully to creating her own work.

Gaining Signature Status with the Pastel Society of America (PSA) was a major honor, further solidified when her work won an award in the 2023 PSA Enduring Brilliance exhibition. In 2024, she earned Master Circle status with the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS). She is also honored to hold Signature Status with American Women Artists (AWA), a recognition of her excellence and dedication to the field.

Reed’s work is held in private, diplomatic, and corporate collections worldwide.
